Carol & John’s Comic Shop to host party in honor of International Women’s Day!
While I don’t read as many comics these days as I used to, I am always happy to tell anyone and everyone how much I love my local comic book shop, and I drop in occasionally to say hi and buy a few books. Carol & Johns Comic Book Shop is owned by a mother-son duo and they focus on building a great community. Everyone who walks in their door will feel welcome and be treated like an old friend. C&J also hosts a ton of great events, release parties, and they have a kitty. Bonus points for kitty.
So I’m delighted (but not surprised) to discover that this Friday, C&J is hosting a special event just for the ladies in honor of International Women’s Day. According to owner (and all around great guy) John Dudas:
“We’ve always prided ourselves on creating a friendly shop for everyone, but we know that sometimes the local comic shop can be a terror for female customers. We hope to break down some walls by having an evening specifically dedicated to creating a comfortable space for women as they enjoy pop culture!”
So March 8th, head down to 17462 Lorain Ave. in Cleveland from 5-8pm. The first 150 women or girls through the door will get a free comic. Five local women comic book artists will also be in attendence! There will also be refreshments and door prizes. And me. I will also be there.
If you can’t make it, check out the artists’ home pages!
