Happy Birthday Louise Simonson!

September 26, 2012

Today marks the birthday of comic book writer and editor, Louise Simonson!

Louise began her comics career in the 60’s as an artist’s model for Berni Wrightson in the first appearance of Swamp Thing. She made a quick transition in the comics biz, from assistant editor to senior editor at Warren Publishing, working on titles like Vampirella.

In 1980, she began working for Marvel Comics, editing Uncanny X-Men, New Mutants, and Star Wars comics. By 1983, she quit editing in favor of writing, creating Power Pack. In the 90’s, she started writing for DC, launching Superman: Man of Steel, working on the Death of Superman, and creating the character of Steel.

Mad props and birthday wishes to an incredibly talented lady! Thanks for all your awesome contributions to the comic book world!
