Hobbit hits keep on coming.

Guest post from my Twitter Buddy Brian. Follow him at @SmallShopBlogR and hit up his blog.

With the Hobbit finally having a concrete shooting start date, February 14th,  we Tolkienites had hoped the worst was behind the troubled film.  But with news of Peter Jackson’s emergency surgery yesterday, we’re still left wondering just what else could possibly go wrong.

After undergoing an operation for a perforated ulcer, the official word is that “Sir Peter is currently resting comfortably and his doctors expect him to make a full recovery.”

Of course, we hope this is true and that Mr. Jackson will be able to continue the amazing work he began with the LOTR movies.

True, someone else could come along and take the helm, but it just wouldn’t feel the same, now would it?  When it was announced that Guillermo del Toro would be directing The Hobbit, it didn’t bode well with me.  “Jackson started the whole thing, it’s only right he should see it through,“ I told myself.  I’m sure there were at least a handful of others who felt the same way.

That being said, I wish Sir Peter a quick recovery and hope that he’s able to return to Middle Earth in good health —  sooner rather than later.
