I don’t know which has me more excited: Christmas or Doctor Who

December 20, 2010

Lookin' dreamy, I must say.

If you couldn’t tell, we’re some pretty frigginhuge Who fans over here at Feminine Miss Geek. News and rumors and fun videos (and one very cool podcast from the Nerdist Chris Hardwick and Matt Smith) continue to come out over the interwed concerning the Doctor Who Christmas Special, airing both in the US and the UK on Christmas. Yay! We don’t have to wait a month!

But what is the Christmas special all about? Let’s ask Arthur Darvill, aka Rory! (Well, technically it’s not us doing the asking, it’s Digital Spy.)

Amy and Rory are on their honeymoon at Christmas time. We’re on a spaceship that’s obviously in some terrible danger, so it’s a slightly short-lived honeymoon! It’s with The Doctor, so it’s not going to be a safe holiday at all! The spaceship starts to crash and we all have to be saved somehow. Meanwhile, The Doctor’s on this amazing planet and has a Christmas adventure to try and save us. It’s all very dark and misty like a good, traditional Christmas episode should be!

Wait a minute, Imaginary-Arthur. Isn’t the never not awesome Michael Gambon (aka Dumbledore #2) going to guest star?

Michael’s brilliant. He’s just been acting for so long that you can’t help but be slightly in awe of him. But it’s surprising, because he’s so invested as an actor, but he’s also a lot of fun. Once you get over those initial nerves, he’s hilarious. He’s just a joy to be in the same room with.

Cool. Video time after the jump!

Join in the fun on December 25th, 9p ET on BBC America.

Oh, I’m definitely more excited about Doctor Who. Especially since this is the first time all of us in America get to see the Christmas special ON Christmas, and not a few days later. It’s going to be AWESOME! I can’t wait!
