Astro City Cineplex

July 23, 2010

One of the best comics taking a realist look at the world of superheroes and the normal people who inhabit that world is Astro City. The comic series, penned by Kurt Busiek, who created the series with interior art by Brent Anderson and covers by Alex Ross, launched in 1995 and has won multiple Eisner Awards.

Now it’s being adapted for film. From Deadline:

Working Title Films partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner have made a deal to turn Kurt Busiek’s graphic novel series Astro City into a live action feature. The deal gives the prolific comic book writer Busiek his first chance to write the script.

This is the second attempt to turn Astro City into a movie, the first in 2003. But comic book adaptations are a hot commodity these days. Here’s hoping we get so see the Samaritan in the flesh. Got any casting choices?
