No no Norton.

July 10, 2010

Comicbookmovie.com has reported that Edward Norton will not be joining the cast of The Avengers.

According to a source at Marvel,

“The studio has decided they are going to cast an unknown to play Bruce Banner in The Avengers.”

Now, apparently there was some bad blood and drama between Norton and studio execs behind the scenes on the set of the Incredible Hulk. But Edward recently called for fans to rally on his behalf to get him into the new Avengers film. But it might be a lost cause.

I loved the Incredible Hulk movie, and as a huge Norton fan, I loved his portrayal of it. Now whatever arguments happened on the set of the Hulk, what I suspect this comes down to is money. Edward Norton is a big star, and an unknown would be a hell of a lot cheaper. There were even rumors swirling that Robert Downey Jr. wouldn’t be back as Iron Man, fanned by his line in Iron Man 2, “You can’t afford me.” Terrance Howard was replaced in IM2, though in my opinion Don Cheadle was an upgrade.

It makes me sad and incredibly disappointed, but that’s Hollywood for you.

Nooooo D: that makes me sad. I wish movie series like this would just keep the same actors. Edward Norton was so great in Hulk. Hopefully they get someone who can fill the shoes.

    Awww. ❤ Ed Norton.

Joss Whedon, eh? Thanks for that info. My friend met Joss Whedon at the NY ComicCon last year. I was so jealous.
