So if you’ve been living in a cave, you probably missed the news that the Spider-Man 4 movie is actually going to be a reboot. While Spider-Man 3 was absolutely painful, I wasn’t too keen on a reboot. But Sam Raimi is out and Marc Webb is in. We also now have a Peter Parker. Andrew Garfield.

Right. Who? Apparently, he’s a handsome young British actor who seems to have some serious acting chops and has appeared in the films Lions For Lambs and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

Here’s what Webb had to say.

“Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.”

I don’t doubt he can pull it off. He’ll no doubt be great. As seen in the video below (strong language warning) he does an American accent perfectly. If I could have wished for anything, it was that there was more wisecracking from the web head, and we might be getting that from Garfield. What worries me is the reboot itself.

There’s no hint whatsoever of what direction they are taking Spidey other than they are taking him back to high school. Eeehhh…. scary. We already saw him in high school. And it was great. What can you add to that? The only thing they can do is change it.

Tobey was awesome. Spider-Man 1 was awesome. Spider-Man 2 was even more awesome. There was no Spider-Man 3. Spider-Man Reboot…. Scary scary scary.

Yup. Andrew Garfield. He’s good. Saw him in The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, Lions for Lambs and Boy A on British TV.

I’ve yet to see Dr. Parnassus. And like I said, it’s not his performance that worries me. I’m sure he’ll do all he can to make it a good movie. Just like Hugh Jackman in Wolverine. But acting as hard as he could wasn’t going to save that one.

In my opinion the reboot of spiderman has been done waaaaaay to early. I understand that they need to make a new movie every few years to keep the rights and all but honestly. The last movie came out less than 5 years ago. That isn’t enough time for people to forget all about the last series of films. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens though
